Harwich Ha’Penny Pier and Beyond

September 22, The Crew left Swaffham on our very first “tour bus” to sing in one of the top locations for shanty music in the country ~ Harwich. We were delighted to be joined by Celia and her friends from the Swaffham Dementia Café as well as our friends and families, known as The Potties.

There was an amazing buzz on The Pier in the fabulous sunshine when we started our set. Celia, her friends and The Potties joined us to give a rousing rendition of 'Soon May The Wellerman Come' and from thereon in everybody was hooked. There are pictures of the day and short videos of our songs on our website below.

We’ve had a terrific year raising funds for charities including the RNLI, All Saints Church Shipdham’s glorious Peace Centenary Memorial Window, Swaffham’s St Peter & St Paul’s Church East Window designed by William Wailes, The National Autistic Society at The Market Cross to name but a few. We’ve sung in care homes, at garden parties, in churches, at sports centres, festivals, and carnivals.

We performed at Lynn’s International Hanse Festival in bright sunshine, contrasted by the soggy, but incredible day at Wells Carnival. In addition, we sang at The Necton Festival, GressFest at Gressenhall, Beachamwell Open Gardens and have been broadcast on West Norfolk Radio and Essex’ Shrimp Shack radio on 105.7 FM. We’ve loved the tremendous enthusiasm and support from all our varied audiences.

Early next year we are planning to do special concerts for the Merle Body Centre and Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice Support and we'll post details of these on our website and in the Swaffham News.

Our aim is to support and help local charities raise funds. If you would like us to come along, please visit our website www.potofgoldswaffham.co.uk or email stevecprice@hotmail.com. We’d love to hear from you.
